We have been very busy this past couple of weeks. After two years of providing services, JBC2SAL has moved into an office at 61 Main St, Suite 242, North Adams.
This office is a place where people can go to get information and assistance with recovery from heroin addiction. This space will increase access to resources to aid in recovery, assistance with finding detoxification , help with obtaining health insurance, and continued assistance throughout the recovery process. It is anticipated the space will host support groups for those in recovery as well as families of those struggling with addiction. The space, located adjacent to the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, is well situated in the city to be accessible and is proximal to other services that can support recovery. It is anticipated that the office will open June 1 and hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9AM to 2PM and by appointment.
Please stop by and see us on Saturday May 28, 2016. JBC2SAL will be hosting our 1st annual Garden Sale outside of Family Footwear Center, 120 North Side Drive, Bennington VT.
We will be selling birdhouses, planters, and garden stakes that have been decorated by local artists. We will also have flowers, herbs, and vegetable plants for sale.
While the beginning of May is extremely difficult emotional for myself, my family, and the many friends of Josh, the rest of the month is looking pretty positive.
I am pleased to announce that in Mid May we will be moving in to our new office space at 61 Main Street North Adams. This endeavor is long overdue and we are very excited about it.
We have been challenged by an anonymous donor. He is calling it the JOSH CHALLANGE.
We have from May 1st to May 31st to raise $1000 and if we do, he will match it. I can tell you all that we will raise $1000 this month! So far we have raised $175 towards this goal. On Friday May 20th we will be hosting a Paint and Sip at the American legion in North Adams tickets can be purchased through Berkshire paint and Sip website berkshirepainandsip.com or by calling 413-205-8346. Tickets are $35 of which $10 is donated to the fund (and will also go towards the JOSH CHALLENGE!). To see what we are painting, please check out our Current Events page.
We are also selling raffle tickets for a $250 gift certificate to RAZ A TAT Tattoo of Bennington Vermont. tickets are $10 each and we have 75 to sell. the drawing will take place at RAZ A TAT once all tickets are sold. Ticket will be available at our Paint and Sip event.
Thanks to everyone for believing in our cause to assist individuals in recovery from heroin/opioid addiction.
RIP Joshua Stephen Bressette
In my last blog I asked our supporters to help us raise $1100 to pay 2 months rent at a sober living home. This request for help was not just to raise the funds needed rather than to tap into our dwindling recovery fund, it was also a tool used to raise awareness of how difficult it is to raise money for recovery services.
While we love and totally appreciate our current supporters, it is saddening to see that others do not understand the need for recovery services.
In the two weeks that the blog was posted, we only raised $400 towards our goal of $1100($550 this month and $550 next month). During this same time frame, we actually spent $850 on sober living, $487.70 on transportation fees, $50.20 on bus passes, and $90.60 on prescriptions. As you can all clearly see-we need donations! Please Help!
In other (not so grim) news - I would like to congratulate those that took the first step this past week and asked for help! Yes, you know who you are, and I want you both to know how proud I am of your decision to seek recovery!
I am not telling you it's going to be easy, I am telling you it's going to be worth it!
Although our recovery funds are currently limited, we are trying to pay the rent at a sober living home for a 20 year old in recovery. This person, who had been using since age 12 has completed both a detoxification and a rehabilitation program.
I am telling you this for 2 reasons; please keep him in your thoughts and/or prayers as he continues through his journey in recovery and, if you have ever thought that someday you may wish to help someone in need, today could be that day.
We would love to commit to paying 2 months of rent for this young person. In order to do so we will need $1100. We are asking for your help-today.
